Frequently Asked Questions

General

Where can I find my ward and precinct?

Please use the Minnesota Secretary of State’s “Polling Place Finder” tool to identify your ward and precinct. After you enter your zip code and address, your precinct will be displayed. The “W” is your ward and the “P” is your precinct.

Can you explain the precinct caucuses vs. convention vs. other DFL activities?

Please review the State DFL website for additional information on what each process is, what to expect at each step, etc.

What does it mean to be a delegate?

As a delegate, you’re allowed to vote on resolutions, candidate endorsements (house and senate), delegate elections for the congressional and state conventions (where you can then vote on endorsements for congressional and state candidates), and local party leadership.

I’m an alternate, what does that mean?

You are eligible to be “upgraded” during the convention to full delegate status if there are open delegate spots your precinct. Usually, the chances are fairly high that you can be upgraded to delegate status.

Will there be childcare options available at the precinct caucuses and/or convention?

Unfortunately, due to liability issues we are not able to provide childcare.

Will there be prayer breaks?

Yes. We will have scheduled prayer breaks and a prayer room available.

Who should I contact if I want a table and/or room at the precinct caucus and/or convention?

Please email us at info@sd64dfl.org if you would like to rent a table or room.

Who should I contact if I need an interpreter?

Please email us at info@sd64dfl.org with your request.

Where should I park and enter the building?

Please park in the parking lot behind the school and enter through Door 1, which is by the large flagpole.

What should I bring to the precinct caucus?

Bring yourself, and maybe a smart phone, tablet, or laptop. We recommend bringing a snack or beverage, if you’d like.

Convention

Who should go to the Senate District 64 DFL convention?

Only delegates and alternates selected at the precinct caucuses go onto the convention.

Where should I park and enter the building?

Please park in the parking lot behind the school and enter through Door 1, which is by the large flagpole.

What should I bring to the convention?

We recommend eating a large meal before arriving since we won’t be providing food. You may bring your own food and water, but we ask that you not eat on the convention floor (i.e., instead, please eat in the hallways, outside, the bleachers, candidate rooms, etc.).

When will the convention end?

It’s difficult to predict convention end times. Since our agenda is fairly light, we hope to end the convention sometime in late afternoon, but the convention could go longer than that.
